Petite sizing
We have a simple mission in mind. To create intentional designs for our fellow petites. Our collection is designed with a petite frame in mind and features styles that elongate and flatter petite proportions. As petite women ourselves, we felt there was a gap in the market for sustainable and timeless wardrobe essentials for women 5’4 and under who shop consciously and choose thoughtfully.
So what does petite really mean? In the fashion world, petite refers to a size range of clothing that is made to fit women who are 5 feet 4 inches or under. The basic difference in fit is that the clothing is shorter in length. We follow a standard petite grading system in that the grade in width is a regular grade (typically 2 inches in width between sizes) while the grade in length is shorter. However, every aspect of a petite garment is considered when developing our designs.
This means that armholes, shoulder seams, necklines, and pant rises are adjusted to reflect the proportions of women who are less than 5’4”. For example, our dresses and tops will have higher armholes, narrower shoulders, shorter torsos, shorter sleeve length and higher necklines. Our pants will have shorter rises and shorter inseam measurements.
We also take each design into consideration when grading. The standard petite grading system of 2 inches in width between sizes can differ between sizes given a specific style. For example, a more fitted style might have a 3 inch grade in width between sizes M-L, L-XL.
Can taller women wear our collection? We have many customers taller than 5’4 wearing our dresses beautifully. The length will come up shorter on taller women. Most of our dresses are longer so this works out nicely for taller women. Our pants will have a shorter rise for a better fit for women 5’4 and under.
We know style comes down to personal taste but fit should not be overlooked. We strive to create designs that are sized to perfection and offer everyday styles that make customers look and feel their best. Providing confidence, elegance, and comfort. Not to mention, a timeless capsule wardrobe to make dressing easier.
